Behind Her Eyes

Oh wow. After finishing The Breakdown and loving that, I wasn’t expecting to be blown off my feet by a psychological thriller any time soon…. then I finally picked up Behind Her Eyes off my bookshelf – which I’d bought on the cheap from Sainsbury’s and had no expectations of how good it would be.

This story REALLY got me talking. I was telling all my colleagues about it because I couldn’t get the characters out of my head.

This is the messed up tale centered around a receptionist called Louise. Louise has got herself in a sticky situation: she’s sleeping with her boss and she’s become friends with his wife, Adele. The situation alone is messed up… but what makes this plot a psychological thriller, is the realisation that neither David or Adele are quite as they seem.

Is David a controlling husband? Is Adele a psychopath? Is David a raging alcoholic prone to be violent? Is Adele threatening David? These are the kind of questions that Louise has running through her mind and she doesn’t know who to trust.

If you thought the secrets David and Adele were hiding were the highlight of the story. Oh how wrong you’d be. This story has an added dimension – which although I don’t believe is something that could actually happen – the spookiness of being able to control your sleep and leave your body to spy on others was enough to send shivers down my spine.

The ending was a shocker. I’m keeping my mouth tightly shut! I would recommend my fellow bloggers give this book a go, for a bargain book I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing, the plot twists and the unknowing of what the ending would bring.

Until next time, Chloé

    1. Oh goody! Hope you enjoy! The wife in the book (Adele) had hummus a few times as part of her lunch and it made me crave it so bad! If you end up doing a foodie book review on it, I’d love a good hummus recipe!!
