I am LOVING catching up with thrillers these past few months, and The Wife Between Us was such a TREAT!
The chapters flip between a young, happy fiancée who is excited to marry her older, handsome and wealthy fiancé. Who can blame her? She lives in an apartment where seeing a cockroach on your kitchen surface is common, but then there is so much she will miss: her best friend, her job and city life…
Plus her best friend seems to detest her fiancée, is it just jealousy or is there something more to it?
The other chapters move to the scorned ex-wife, who goes from having a designer wardrobe of her own, to selling the latest items to others… because now she has to work to support even living in a small bedroom in her Aunt’s place. How come she ended up with so little from the divorce?
She becomes obsessed with stalking her replacement.
But as the blurb says “when you read this book, you will make many assumptions”, and this statement is so utterly true. I went into this story picking up what I believed where the crucial facts on each page and began to piece together this plot… and then WHAM it took a completely different direction. The twist from part 1 to part 2 was spectacular!
I enjoyed how cleverly constructed this story was, every sentence was carefully picked to mislead you whilst also ensuring it didn’t contradict the plot at a later part.
A satisfying quick read that keeps you guessing until the very end… and trust me that final reveal is masterfully done! I did not see it coming! If you love domestic noir thrillers, this definitely needs to find it’s way onto your TBR pile.
As I type this, I’m currently reading You Are Not Alone which is the latest book from these authors… and my goodness, these women are QUEENS of this genre.
You can get a copy of The Wife Between Us in paperback and eBook versions from Pan.
Until next time, stay safe, Chloé x

Lovely review, Chloe! I definitely hope to read this one at some point – I recently read An Anonymous Girl and enjoyed it a lot.
