I had been desperate to read this book, as the social media campaign meant it was all over my twitter feed for months. I was unsuccessful at grabbing a proof so I had to wait until it hit the shelves!
Not surprisingly, when a book is hyped up that much, I was nervous to start it as I was expecting so much!
Alicia has been admitted to The Grove after not saying a word since her husband was shot five times in their home. Her finger prints are all over the gun and with no other suspects, the trial sentenced Alicia for the murder.
But could she be innocent? Unless she speaks, how will anyone ever know?
Theo has begun working at The Grove and believes he will be the one to get her to talk. With Alicia not speaking, Theo pieces together the build up to Gabriel’s murder by talking to Alicia’s family and friends; but it’s not easy, these people are hiding secrets about Alicia, and Theo knows it. With his colleagues doubting Theo will ever make progress, Theo’s obsession to uncover Alicia’s thoughts on that dreaded night becomes all he can think about.
This book, hands down, delivered well beyond what I could have ever dreamed of. It’s the best psychological book I’ve read in AGES. I’m babbling, I know, but I can’t get over how incredibly clever this plot was! The ending took me by complete surprise and I didn’t see it coming… I wasn’t even close to guessing it!
One word: Phenomenal.
Take my advice and read it, you won’t regret it!
